Hear What Chuck Hart, Our Owner Thinks About His Silverado
"I’m the owner of Bob Grimm Chevrolet as well as the owner of a White 2019 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab truck. It is somewhat of an experiment for me as it’s the first 4 cylinder Turbo truck I’ve ever owned as well as the first ever produced by Chevrolet. It has provided my best ever 25 mile range of 30.8 MPG. It’s the 8th Silverado truck I’ve owned including a Gray 2006 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, a Silver 2008 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, a White 2010 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, a Red 2013 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, and a White 2015, 2016 and 2018 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. Every truck tells a story, and I thought it would be interesting to share some of the travels of these trucks.
I love to fish in my spare time. It is a fun and somewhat addictive hobby that has taken me and my Silverado many places other than my hometown of Morton Illinois. I purchased my 2016 Silverado because one of my friends was following me and my 2015 Silverado out of my church in East Peoria Illinois and sent me a text asking if my truck was for sale. Since I sell new Chevrolet vehicles at Bob Grimm Chevrolet in Morton Illinois, I of course said yes. July in Illinois is not my prime fishing time, but it is soccer season for my daughter and my truck was off to Lincoln, Illinois for a soccer tournament. We did take a fishing trip up along the Illinois River which is a scenic drive through a small towns including Spring Bay and Lacon on our way up to almost Hennepin. The trip there was just OK. The lake had changed and the Silverado pulled the boat back home with only a few fish to add to our log for the year. Football season is going on now and we have a game in San Jose, which is south of Morton, and we pass through Tremont, Hopedale and Delavan to get there.
The next trip took me to Banner Marsh near, strangely enough, Banner, Illinois. Since we moved out of town I have taken the route that goes through East Peoria and Creve Couer which seems to get me there a little bit faster. I get on Interstate 474 right near Pekin and then head to Bartonville and on past signs for Mapleton, Kingston Mines and Glasford. The Silverado gets better fuel economy on some of those roads as well, even when pulling the boat. In October, Banner Marsh closes and so it’s off to Spring Lake near Manito which takes me through Pekin, past Green Valley and almost to Forest City, but not quite. A good friend of mine bought a lake near Fairview, IL and we thought it would be worth a try.
The truck’s navigation system wound us through a bunch of small towns and after passing through Hanna City, Trivoli and Farmington we found ourselves at the edge of Fairview and my friend’s lake did not disappoint! We caught almost one hundred fish! While driving around I noticed that Norris was not too far away and Canton was just past that a little south. I had no idea how close all of those little towns were, and yes I’ve fished in all of them including one of the up and coming fisheries in Illinois the Giant Goose Ranch run by the Herman Family in Canton.
With Spring comes High School Bass fishing and our sectional tournament is at Evergreen Lake near Carlock, Illinois. This trip takes me from Morton through some of my old stomping grounds as I grew up in Goodfield but first it’s Deer Creek and then Congerville. We make this trip a lot and it has treated us well as we have 3 sectional titles as well as a 2nd and 3rd place finish all sending our team to the state tournament in Carlyle, Illinois. That trip is the best mileage I’ve ever gotten towing a boat. Almost 20 MPG while towing!"
